Community Involvement

Big Dog Running company is very involved in the health and fitness community as well as local non-profits that benefit the Columbus and Ft. Benning communities.
All employees are members of the
Columbus Roadrunners which promotes health and fitness through running and walking.
Co-owner John Teeples is very involved with the local
House of Heroes organization and was the founder of the
Run for The Heroes relay across the state of Georgia. This event raised over $60,000 last year alone.
The
Soldier Marathon was the brainchild of co-owners John Teeples and Reggie Luther. This event, which is directed by local attorney Cecil Cheeves, has grown to be a major economic event in the Columbus/Ft. Benning area. This event will raise money for the National Infantry Museum, Honor Flight and House of Heroes.
The Red Nose Half Marathon, a free race in downtown Columbus, is a great fundraiser for local charities. In 2009 the race raised over $5,000 for the John B. Amos Cancer center.
Big Dog Running Company supports other local charities through sponsoring and organizing local running and walking events.
Big Dog also supports local organizations with our Old Shoe recycling program. If you bring your old running shoes into the store, Big Dog will make sure they get onto the feet of someone that needs them.
